Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Lo siento mucho MarĂa...

ReplyDeleteWe lost one of our cats about 2 years ago. It's really sad, but like you just said, he is in a better place now. He was a very beautiful cat.
God bledss you guys...
I am so sorry for your loss, there is nothing more sad than loosing a beloved pet. Your description of pet heaven made me cry!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. I know this must be so difficlt for you. I am sorry I have never commented before, but I have read many of your posts, most of them being about Ollie. He was a beautiful cat. I'm sure you gave him the best life possible and he was very happy in the short time he was here. God bless you for giving him so much love and care. I'm sure you will see him again, one day.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry Maria. I hope the good memories you have of Ollie will get you through this difficult time.
ReplyDeleteMaria,
ReplyDeleteI tell my 3 small boys about Rainbow Bridge all the time. We just lost our bunny that we had for 11 years and Rainbow Bridge is where she waits for us. Your story about Ollie made me cry and I still have tears in my eyes as I type this. What a beautiful adorable cat he was. I'm sure your heart feels so heavy right now. Losing a pet is very difficult. That's the hard part about having them - they usually always go before we do. I'm sorry for your loss. Each day WILL get easier. Thank you for sharing your feelings with us.
Thinking of you,
Heidi

I'm so sorry to hear this Maria.
ReplyDeleteMuch loved pets really are a part of the family.
At least he's released from his pain and can rest now which I'm is some small comfort.
That is so, so sad. I am really sorry to hear that. He was very lucky to have been so loved and treasured by you all.

oh I am so sad and so sorry for you! He was so adorable...I hate it when pets die - it is so sad but the suffering is more when you can see them in pain, once they are gone, you miss them dreadfully but you are right, you feel better knowing they no longer suffer... RIP Ollie - my heart goes out to you and your mum and dadxxx
ReplyDeleteOh, Maria ... I myself lost a beloved kitty ten days ago. I still see him out of the corner of my eye all the time, and then turn to go rub his belly - only he's not really there. Thirteen years he was with me ... I both understand and feel the hurt you feel.
ReplyDeleteMaria, I am so sorry to hear Ollie has passed on, he was a beautiful cat and its been a pleasure to see piccies of him and hear about him.
ReplyDeletePlease accept my heartfelt condolences, I know how you will be feeling as I lost my cat 2 years ago, not a day passes I don't think of her, I am sure your Ollie will always have a special place in your heart x
So sorry to hear this news. There's nothing harder than having to say goodbye to a pet too soon. At least you know he had a wonderful life albeit a short one.

Maria, I feel so sad for you in the loss of your darling little cat. What a short life he had, but you are right, he is on the Rainbow Bridge, probably playing with other little kitties and catching butterflies. I have my darling kitties Hector and Persephone on the Rainbow Bridge, waiting for their Mommy too.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry Maria!! You and your family gave Ollie the best life and he knows you did everything you could to help him. I know kitties are like parts of our family. It is so hard when we lose one. *BIG HUGS*
ReplyDeleteMaria, there's really nothing to be said that would help how you're feeling right now. I am so sorry. I just thank goodness, that, if this was something that was destined to happen to Ollie, at least the days he had in this world, were spent with the people who would love him best. May he live on in your heart forever.
ReplyDeleteOH I am so sorry about your cat I know how you feel!!
ReplyDeleteOh Maria, I am truly so sorry to hear about Ollie's passing. I am sitting here with tears in my eyes..he was so beautiful. Ollie's life was very sadly far too short, but at least he was with people who loved and cared for him very much. My heart goes out to you xxxx
ReplyDeleteMaria I am devastated to hear and read this news of little Ollie. I am truly sorry and send my love to you and all the family at this time. Ollie was a very special little boy and I know his love will live on forever with you. He is only a footstep away at Rainbow Bridge, where he has friends to romp and play with while he waits for his mummy to come to him once again. I do know Ollie had the most loving family he could have had and he knew what pure love is!
ReplyDeleteHugs and love to you and the family.

Maria,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about Ollie. But thank you for always sharing with us about how wonderful he is and made us feel as if we know him like a friend too.

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about your Ollie. He was a beautiful kitty. I am crying as I type this. I lost my Shrimp on Aug 2, 2008. My vet sent me a card with the poem Rainbow Bridge in it. The thing that helps me is knowing that our seperation is not forever. God Bless you and your family.

ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your cat. Have just found your blog, it looks fantastic, I'll definitely be coming back for some cooking inspiration. Once again, so sorry about your cat, it must be a terrible time to go through.
ReplyDeleteHi Maria
ReplyDeleteI was so sad to read about your poor little Ollie. I can't even begin to imagine how you are feeling. He was a gorgeous and clearly very loved little animal and he would know how much you adored him and that you did everything you could for him. The story of Rainbow Bridge was so beautiful but also brought a tear to my eye, and has made me cuddle our cat even more than usual. Hope you are as ok as you can be under the circumstances. Lots of love and hugs, Katherine xxx
Oh Maria, I am so sad to read this.xx
ReplyDeleteOh Maria, I'm so sorry for your loss. People without pets just don't understand how much we love them, but I know I'd be heartbroken if anything ever happened to my dog. Ollie really was lucky to have you, and to be loved so much. I hope you're okay xxxxx
ReplyDeleteOh Maria I am so very very sorry, reading this has made me shed a few tears. Big hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful cat to have had such a short life Maria. A real shame for you all.
ReplyDeletemaria, we had to put my husband's cat last year, in june, and it was one of the worst moments in my life, i am sure ollie had a lovely life, and now you have to think about all the good moments he shared with you, i am so sorry...

Back from break and just saw about ollie, I am so sorry to hear about her. I think loosing a pet is like loosing one of your close family.
ReplyDeleteReally sorry I am.
Ollie was a lovely companion. I'm sorry for your loss. I know how you'll miss him. xxx
ReplyDeleteI have a cat called Ollie and have been considering setting up a blog for her as she is quite a character. I came across your blog whilst checking the web and read about your Ollie. I am very sorry for your loss. It is very hard to deal with, but I am sure you did all you could for him and loved him very much. I lost a much beloved cat 6 years ago - he was 16 - and it was totally unexpected. I still grieve for him now, but am convinced he is still around!
ReplyDeleteOh for goodness sake, I've got all upset reading this! Poor Ollie, he was so young as well. I've read about FIP, it's an awful thing. You will always miss him but I hope it's a bit easier now.
